This day we make a trip to National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.The center is built to remind people of the dark days when discrimination was a common scene in the US and the freedom of black people was deprived.
Before I come to American,i've learned a lot about American history from books,films and games such as Gone With The Wind,National Treasure and Assassins' creed 3.But i've seldom paid attention to the livs of black people.
Underground Railroad is a road to freedom in these horrible days.Many people suffered from slavery and eventually they were forced to fight for their own liberty. Fighting for one's own freedom is a most important part of Americans' spirit from a foreigner's view such as me.
that's a great post and thanks for writing it, ezio. by going to the museum, you have done something that most americans themselves have not done. congratulations for learning about painful and inconvenient truths in history.

DeleteAgreed Ezio. I think you grasped some of the big meanings of the visit there - learning about African culture, and African American culture, is something you wouldn't learn about in China. Be sure to share your experience with your classmates and friends back home.
ReplyDeleteAs far as I'm concerned, American has become a quite free country which I like very much. I hope some day in the future,my country will also become a country of freedom.China has been faced with so many problems such as too many people and the intensive situation with our neighbor countries so that we need to have a powerful government to take the lead, which, in fact , may deprive people of their rights to some extent.I hope one day we can become a free country as the US.
